Volunteer Photography

In 2014, my husband joined an adaptive non-profit wheelchair sports team, Aviators of Nassau County wheelchair softball, based out on Long Island, NY. I became involved as a team photographer and moderator their Facebook page to help promote the team, as well as keep members and volunteers informed about events such as games, holiday parties, fundraisers, and recruitment.

My husband had discovered NY Safeway wheelchair Lacrosse in 2015, while participating in a charity event called Shootout for Soldiers, a 24-hour lacrosse tournament that benefits veterans. Since then, once again I became involved in being a team photographer and moderator of their Facebook page. We have covered events ranging from scrimmages to lacrosse clinics to a national tournament in Ocean City, Maryland in 2016.

Ruff House Rescue is a non-profit dog and cat rescue based out on Long Island. My involvement began with them in spring of 2017 as a volunteer photographer. My main job with them was to help photograph the dogs for use on social media and the website Petfinder.com to help get them fostered and adopted. I have covered various fundraising events for them such as Bow Wow Bingo, Mutts & Mimosas, and Barkfest to name a few. I also helped at the rescue’s location by walking dogs, bathing them and socializing with them.

I discovered the non-profit organization Tiny Life about 2 years ago as a fan of actor Jamie Dornan. Jamie’s father, professor Jim Dornan founded this charity to help aid premature infants and their families in Belfast, Ireland. What started out inquiring with how to support the charity and obtain Tiny Life shirts and other merchandise, began a wonderful relationship/friendship with their public relations director, and my helping spread awareness of the organization by wearing their logo while traveling and at Jamie Dornan related events. The series of images in this section have been used on Facebook and Twitter to help promote the organization that relies heavily on donations and international support. I am very proud to support and promote this wonderful charity on social media and even wore their shirt when I met their patron, Jamie Dornan in New York City in 2016 and also to an early screening for one of his independent films.
